Sale Name: Davis Lifetime Gun Collection (Vintage Military Firearms & Memorabilia) - 1/2
LOT 536 - 1953 International Harvester M1 Garand "Arrow Head" .30 Rifle COA of CMP
Lot Location   Gun Shop
Description

cal: .30, semi-auto, made in Evansville IN, see document, sn: 4440695, from Mr. Davis's records: This rifle was manufactured early in International’s production. The receiver was manufactured by Springfield and finished by International. These early rifles were marked in a distinct way that is called the “Arrow Head” there only around a thousand rifles produced and marked in this manner. This makes it the rarest of the International Harvester rifles. The rifle has a properly marked stock the marking is OR 2482. I purchased it from the CMP for $4001. With the additional IHC parts I have added it should sell for more than I paid. According to a posting on the CMP web site the op rod in this rifle is correct even though it is Springfield op rod. It seems that is the early production Harvester used some Springfield parts; this op rod has the correct drawing number. The barrel is marked LMR January 1953 which is correct. The barrel that I had replaced is in the safe. It is a March 1953 properly marked and should be sold with the rifle., NOTE: There is a $25 transfer fee per firearm for transfer and/or processing payable to Gun World, whether the firearm is picked up or shipped
