Smith Estate Fossil Mineral Rock Online Only Auction (2/2)
Includes the lifetime collection from the Jim Smith Estate. Jim was an avid collector of Native American "Indian" artifacts, rocks, gems, minerals, and fossils. He kept records of his collections on handwritten index cards that are included with each mineral specimen! Most of his Native American artifacts were found in and around Harrison County, Indiana. He had been a member of The KYANA Geological Society in Louisville, Kentucky for many years. While many of his specimens were found by him personally, others were acquired through trade or purchase with other friends, dealers or collectors at monthly meetings or during gem and mineral shows. Most of his free time and family vacations were trips to Arkansas, Oregon, The Carolinas, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan or Indiana to look for quartz crystals, thunder eggs(Oregon Agate), beach agates, garnets, diamonds, Ohio flint, geodes, fluorite, Petoskey stones. Derby and English Indiana for fossils, such as Brachiopods, Trilobites, crinoid stems or crinoid blastoids. Every trip was another opportunity to "grow" his collection.
